Sure, modify to your hearts content. Just keep it somewhat legal, cause if you come to the rally, drag pipes, bars over 15" higher than the top of the bucket section of the seat( the middle, not the high point, go figure), disfunctional lights, non-DOT helmets, mini mirrors, etc are BANNED. Memphis cops make the L.A.P.D., A.T.F., and the F.B.I. look like cub scouts if they don't like your ride.

PS: I would tune it up and put in a good air filter BEFORE messing with the carb guts or the pipe. Sometimes, a simple tune-up is the best thing to do.
PPS: I hate maintenance because it cuts into my modifying time. ;-)
